Spindrift

On an historic New Hampshire coastal peninsula overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, delicate copper wind sculptures play with the sea breeze; spinning and twirling and catching the wind. The wind and relentless summer sun here are both playful and demanding of a built landscape designed to take a backseat to its influence. At the driveway entrance, we combined Black Mountain granite, reclaimed granite, and New England fieldstone to craft a free standing wall and piers, integrated into a lovely custom fence. Blending with the soft color palette of the sea and sky, the stone structures and fence define the boundaries of the property while still maintaining a friendly welcome. Custom outdoor light fixtures accent the piers and all entrances to the house, while leaving landscape lighting to the stars. Wind tolerant, salt tolerant, hardy trees, shrubs, and perennials surround the property, strategically placed to maintain the ocean views and vistas to Isles of Shoals on the horizon.
